high valley

The trains come down the mountain and into the high valley area where the cattle are grazing over the late spring and summer before roundup.  It is very peaceful and quiet up in the valley except at roundup and for the occasional train rolling thru the valley.

The stock pens are being added to this area:

 The crew is relaxing awaiting
the downhill stock extra to arrive.

Here are a few images of the section house and MOW crew buildings at High Valley pens.

The old MOW building at the low end of Flat Valley Road crossing is just a flag stop now that the town of Pelton, across the river, has build up and has passenger facilities.  This is the only road up into the back country and thanks to the mild climate, does not get washed out too often.
